I work with adults who are struggling with anxiety, stress, or panic and are truly “over it”. I like plans and checklists and believe these are the keys to success. If you work with me, I am not going to nod smile and ask you how that made you feel. Many of my clients have told me that I am not like other therapists they have worked with because I didn’t sit there and look at them funny. I am a very interactive and result oriented psychotherapist. I also sprinkle in humor, as you may have noticed. You should know that I also don’t live in the past. We don’t need to spend three hours on what you did when you were 3 years old. We will only dip into your past, as needed, to serve your present and your future. I also know that not everyone likes therapy, or believes in therapy, but I make it real. Therapy is very much a restorative process for me.
You should also know that I am very serious about anxiety, stress, & panic. Why, because, as you know, it can severely impair a person’s ability to function at work, school, and in social situations. It can also interfere with a person’s relationships with family and friends. It interferes with every area of our lives. I know it doesn’t have to. I believe anxiety is not who you are. Many of my clients tell me they want to be carefree and stop over thinking everything. Anxiety, stress, & panic do not get better overnight but it does get better. My goal is for you to not pretend you are ok, because you really will be. I want you to be able to live a peaceful more productive life!
Anxiety is not who you are.
I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anxiety and Depression, and specialize in the treatment of Anxiety. I work with both Adults and Couples providing both Short and Long-Term Psychotherapy. I am also principle owner of The Counseling Group of the North Shore, LLC. More importantly, I have been in the field for 23 years in many different settings and in private practice for 10 years.
Recently, I worked with a coach who asked we what it means that I have worked in the field for 23 years. That was a really good question! Here’s my answer, it means that I have met with hundreds of people, just like you, and I have been listening! Everyone I have met with has said that anxiety sucks and that it is making them miserable. Yes, anxiety is useful, we all have a built-in smoke detector in our brains that alerts us to danger, however, when was the last time you were being chased by a lion? My guess is never, and why should you feel like you are when there isn’t a lion? I am here to help you with that.
Here is my vision for you. I want you to imagine not having a knot in your stomach, sweating, shaking, or being short of breath. Imagine not feeling like your world is crashing down. Imagine not pretending you are fine on the outside while you are terrified on the inside. Imagine not trying to wade through all your thoughts and livings in fear of what other people think or constantly feeling like you want to live a “normal life.” It is exhausting and guess what? Having anxiety is depressing.
Now, hear this. (Here is the good news.) Anxiety, Stress, & Panic are very treatable. You are not broken, and most people who suffer from anxiety are able to reduce how they are feeling after several months of therapy. The people I work with notice improvement after just a few sessions.
You are not broken.
When I am not working, I take care of my two kids and three dogs. Which do you think are easier? I am also making plans to travel. I would love to go on a safari! My guilty pleasure is binge-watching TV, All BY MYSELF. Ladies. You know what I mean.
Enough about me. Now is the time for you to download my worksheet, “3 Questions to Stop Worry in Its Tracks” and to get started planning with me.
